Brandon Roy Moran Car Accident Death Obitaury
Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal ATV crash that claimed the life of a Polk City man early Thursday morning, April 23, 2026.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched around 3:01 a.m. to Fussell Road, approximately a quarter mile east of Commonwealth Avenue and about two miles north of Polk City, following reports of a serious crash involving an all-terrain vehicle. When first responders arrived, they discovered the victim, identified as 39-year-old Brandon Roy Moran, deceased at the scene with significant head injuries.
Preliminary findings from the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit indicate that Moran had been operating a Polaris Sportsman 400 ATV when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. Investigators say he was ejected and struck his head on the pavement, resulting in critical trauma.
Authorities believe that after the initial crash, Moran may have remained in the roadway for an unknown amount of time. During that period, he was likely struck by a passing vehicle. Officials noted that the driver involved in this secondary incident did not stop and may not have been aware that a person had been in the roadway.
In response to the incident, Fussell Road was shut down for approximately four hours while detectives processed the scene. Investigators collected evidence and worked to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash in an effort to better understand how the tragedy unfolded.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives are continuing efforts to identify the vehicle involved in the second impact and to determine all contributing factors in the case.
No further information has been released at this time as authorities continue their work.
