Angela Jean Gough and Donald Ray Gough Fire Accident Death Obituary
A tragic house fire in the Huguley community has left residents mourning after two people were found dead inside their home following a late-night blaze on Monday.
According to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. to a report of a residential fire at 4327 20th Street SW, where a house was already fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. The intensity of the fire prevented first responders from immediately entering the structure.
Fire departments from Huguley, Lanett, and East Alabama worked together through the night to contain the blaze. Crews battled heavy smoke and extreme heat as they worked to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes in the neighborhood.
Once the flames were brought under control, authorities made the tragic discovery of two deceased individuals inside the residence. The victims were later identified as Donald Ray Gough, 55, and Angela Jean Gough, 46.
Their deaths have left family members, friends, and neighbors in shock, as a quiet evening quickly turned into a devastating loss. Loved ones are now grappling with the sudden absence of two lives taken in a single, destructive event.
Officials confirmed that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The investigation is being handled by the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office in coordination with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities are currently examining the scene to determine what may have sparked the blaze and how it spread so rapidly.
As Huguley begins to process the tragedy, Donald Ray Gough and Angela Jean Gough are being remembered with deep sorrow. Their passing has left a painful void in the community, along with many unanswered questions as investigators continue their work.
