According to a joint statement released by Sheriff Webb and Coroner Austin Rhodes, the Fulton County Coroner’s Office has identified the individual as Kenneth Johnson, 59, of Canton. His body was found following an extensive ground search conducted by multiple agencies working together to locate him after he had been reported missing.
Officials said Johnson was discovered approximately 500 yards north of the location where his vehicle had been parked. The finding brought a tragic end to an active search effort that had involved local and state emergency personnel.
An autopsy was performed the same day in Peoria County, and authorities confirmed that standard toxicology testing remains pending. Investigators have stated that there are currently no indications of foul play connected to the case.
